Introducing Foodie Adventures, a recurring series of eats, treats, and more~
If you were to ask if I wanted some ramen, a few years ago, I'd assume you meant the little orange package with the seasoning packet. I used to make a mean bowl of ramen. With me, you don't just get boiling water and the given ingredients. I finesse my ramen— hot sauce, sautéed onions, the whole 9. After a video that showed how instant ramen processes in the body, I gave it up cold turkey and still miss it sometimes.
I only recently realized my late night snack is actually a staple dish in Japanese culture. Japan now has my heart in two forms, sushi and ramen.
Steamed Shrimp Dumplings aka Shumai
The foodie in me was ecstatic to find an upgraded version of my $0.99 meal and have it still be budget friendly. I've tried ramen from about three other New Jersey locations but Ramen Noodle in Edison, NJ has to be my favorite. My first visit was back in December. I was fighting a cold and needed something hot and spicy to kick it out. I recently went back on a date with my best friend and was happy to find tasted even better the second time. WOO!
Pork Belly Buns
Ramen Noodle is not the kind of place you come expecting a whole experience. It's great food for a good price- no frills. There's very basic decor, the same people cooking your food take your order, and water comes from a self-serve mason jar pitcher. This is my definition of a hole in the wall.
You can't go wrong with steamed shrimp dumplings , shumai (if you're not allergic, of course).
I was feeling adventurous and also got some pork belly buns. I try not to make pork a regular part of my diet but this was well worth it.
The spicy ramen is actually really spicy so don't say I didn't warn you. It comes with a bunch of toppings, some I still don't know— soft-boiled egg, fish cake, pork, scallions, seaweed, and beansprouts
Spicy Ramen Bowl
I'm excited to make my foodie adventures a recurring part of the blog so stay tuned!
